An interactive activity: Interview with Mr Hall
This activity provides learners with room for autonomy in using various strategies in listening comprehension. They are guided to predict, to make connections between ideas, to use personal experiences and to extract specific information when listening to a simple text on familiar topics.
Task
Michelle is a reporter for the School Newsletter. The editor asked her to collect information about the new teachers of the school. She is interviewing Mr Hall, the new native English-speaking teacher. She is asking him where he comes from, how he became a teacher and where he spends his holidays in Hong Kong.
Listen to the interview carefully and answer the questions.

An extended activity: Interviewing and Introducing teachers
Learners, in groups, conduct interview questions. Then they construct an interview with a teacher. Finally, they make a presentation on the information obtained from the interviews.
Task
You are members of the "Big Brothers and Sisters Scheme". In order to help the S1 students be more familiar with teachers in your school,
1. Form groups of four.
2. Determine which teacher to interview.
3. Brainstorm questions you are going to ask the teacher. Bear in mind questions that are too personal and not suitable for the interview.
4. Write down the questions in the Interview Record Form below.
5. Conduct an interview with the teacher.
6. Jot down information in the interview Record Form.
7. Finally, introduce the teacher to the S1 students.
